Headmaster’s Newsletter – 3 March 2017

Dear Parents,

Ever since we acquired Founders’ Hall we have been able to develop our Fencing and under Mr Golisz this has made tremendous advances. Last Saturday the British Schools Team Fencing Championships were held at Milfield School in Somerset. Mr Golisz and the parents took four teams along and they did really well.

  • Girls U11 won Silver  –  Elena Pesciarelli Nina Topiol, Paloma Reynolds, Charlotte Kissin
  • Boys U11 won gold  –  Lorenzo Roselli, Gastone Giurlani, Jake Campbell
  • Boys U13 won bronze  –  Max Hildreth, Alex Liaudet, Samuel Whale, James Morgan
  • Boys U11B placed 7th  –   Algy Low, Jack Duff-Gordon, Sameer Sunder-Rajan, Lewis Woolf

Many congratulations to all of them and Mr Golisz and grateful thanks to those parents who supported the visit.

Congratulations also to Maya Smith, Cate Conklin, Meira Gerasimovaite, Ines Baud, Arabella Scanlon, Mika Hood, Chloe Stranger, Annalise Worraker and Ayla Siddiq in Transitus who were selected as published poets for the ‘Young Writers’ Once upon a dream anthology. This was a national poetry competition for 7-11 year olds. Pupils were invited to write a poem inspired by their dreams, whether it was a real-life aspiration, a wonderful world created inside their mind or even influenced by a nightmare or fear. ‘Young Writers’ aims to encourage children to engage in creative writing and has worked with schools and children since 1991.

Very good results are also coming in for the girls who sat their 11+ Entrance examinations and a full list will be published in a couple of weeks time.
